Course Introduction Video

  • This course is intended to provide an overview of biofeedback and psychophysiology as powerful tools for assessment and intervention which are within the scopes of practice of virtually all physiotherapists, psychologists, sports coaches, educators, and psychotherapists. Use of these tools and techniques provides therapists with unique information which cannot be ascertained in other ways and provides unique learning which is otherwise unavailable to clients in clinical, coaching, and educational environments.

The content of this 2 CE course is contained in two lectures which lasts about two hours. At the end of the class, you will need to take a brief exam and send in an evaluation of the course. The APA requires us to report each student’s profession so you will be asked to supply that information as well. You will receive a course completion certificate after we receive your exam and course evaluation.

  • By the end of this course, attendees will be able to:

Describe the relationship between psychophysiology and biofeedback.

Give at least two examples of unique information provided by psychophysiological assessments not attainable in other ways.

Summarize the psychophysiological processes underlying at least 3 conditions commonly treated with biofeedback.

Describe how typical biofeedback sessions are conducted including the coaching relationship.

Summarize how biofeedback devices are used to apply at least two specific interventions.

List 4 lines of evidence showing that specific biofeedback based interventions are efficacious.
